i like this move
swing your hips
round and round
slow, fast, slow, fast
i like to dance
tease you with my moves
twisting and turning
turning and twisting
until we got the rhythm
up, down, up, down
hands and feet grooving
swaying to the drum beat
grooving and swaying
shaking my insides out
come on baby,
i like this move
swing your hips
round and round
let's twist again ~

ReplyDeletemoving my insides around, you got my hips a swaying heaven...like me a little dancing to the rhythm of the radio or otherwise...
ReplyDeleteReally like this one, Heaven. A great topic for your moving repetition. I remember that song from way back when--cool!
ReplyDeleteI can feel this poem, Heaven! Twisting was really repetitious, when you think about it, wasn't it? LOL.
ReplyDeleteWonderful combo of two prompts! Your poem is filled with energy and exciting beats.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your work on Real Toads.
twist is such a fun simple dance, and great exercise!!
ReplyDeleteLOL
ReplyDeleteI actually remember daninc the twist as a kid... OMGoodness!!
A fun read :)
This was fun...one of the first albums (yes, vinyl, I know...I'm dating myself) that my Mother bought for me was call Jukebox Jive...I listened to this song over and over and over...whoops...taking the prompt a little too far, don't think we need to repeat in the comments! Enjoyed the visit!
ReplyDeleteHahaha... "I'll give it a 95, it's got a great beat and it's easy to dance to."
ReplyDelete(Familiar quote from American Bandstand with Dick Clark) ... couldn't help it Heaven!
tease me with your moves? yeah, you do:)
ReplyDeleteyou've got a nice, lighthearted touch here.
Heaven your words are dancing off the page--great use of repetition, and also, dancing as a metaphor for all kinds of things, I'm thinking. ;_)
ReplyDeleteHeaven~ You did a great job combining the two prompts into one... twisting takes lots of repitition.
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love that video? It makes me want to get up and move. I'm glad it inspired you. Thanks for joining in!!
dancing is so sensual.. and fun..
ReplyDeletereally enjoyed the light-heated feel of this ..make me wanna go twist then shout:-)

OMgoodness...the twist.
ReplyDeleteLove it, love the music,
Chubby Checker, and the

enough to do it, and then

ReplyDeletesensual, groovy read...
ReplyDeleteLoved it
creatively written, n brilliant imagery !!!
Heaven,
ReplyDeletea fun and sweet read :)
Groovy song-like poem. It has a beat of its own. if it was set to music then i'd like to dance to it.
ReplyDeleteOh how I love the twist! And yes, you've got the rhythm all right. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the light-hearted feel, the moves back to the old days swaying here to the now. Dancing the twist, but really most dance moves are comprised of that repitition we are looking for in our writing. Smooth to and fro. Nicely shared.
ReplyDeleteMakes me think of my parents - their first date was a Chubby Checker concert. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteah yes, what a dance it is ;)
ReplyDeleteGood way to turn an ankle :)
ReplyDeleteAs soon as I read the last line (and before seeing the pic and video) Chubby Checker's voice was in my mind.
Now I want to dance...great repetition!
ReplyDeleteyou got me swinging! so much fun, rhythm and music...

This has what I call "interior repetition" -- I wouldn't have realized it if I hadn't been looking for it. Great poem.
ReplyDeletewonderful - loved all of it
ReplyDeletevery nice, I enjoyed it. Let's twist again.
ReplyDeleteI loved the surprise of this. Was enjoying the repeating words and the rhythm of the poem....then scrolling down to that last line really made me want to dance! Lots of fun.
ReplyDeleteflowing words and like a song, just like how a dance should be.
ReplyDelete"i like to dance / tease you with my moves" this line stands out among the repetition as the emphasis. very sensual. beautiful writing.
