Stormy nights

missed turn

third chances

unexpected rain

spilled milk

burnt toast

rejection letter

unanswered prayer

miscalculated step

unpared dream

rough edges

turbulent waves

stormy nights

unfinished us

i am thankful too

  1. It sounds like one disappointing day but it seems to have ended well. A rather reflective mood to this poem. :)

  2. Sounds like the day from down below. But it seemed to end on a high note, that is all anyone can ask for, well maybe not ask for, but what they'll get..haha

  3. unfinished us...nice turn of phrase there...sounds like a rather frustrating day...glad you can still be thankful...

  4. Thank you for your lovely comments. This is my reaction to some of poems I have read last week. I think we need to be thankful not only of the good times, and the things we have, but also for the "storms" in our lives. Because they make us who we are today ~

  8. Yes, without the bad times we'd never recognise the good times when they come.

  11. There is a tubulence to thesed lines that's just exquisite, Heaven. Beautifully 'unfinished'...sounds like a beautiful disaster already happening with part three to come(?)

  19. Unfinished us... Love that.
I think we're all unfinished, that's what makes us so interesting. :-)

  21. Nice turn in the last line. I'm curious about an "unpared dream." Rejection slip jumped out at me and went well with burnt toast.

  22. lovely finish to this - it does sometimes seem that these negative events all come in a pile, doesn't it - but as you say, there's always something to be thankful for too

  23. I completely agree that we need to be thankful for the good and bad. They all work together for purpose in our lives. I think this is a favorite of yours for me. Thank you for helping me to give more thanks for the hard times. I do believe they are working good things in me. :)

  24. What a great turnaround here! This is distilled and refined. Enjoyed it a great deal.

    "unpared dream

  25. every thing that could and can go wrong.
yet, there's recognition, acknowledgement, & appreciation that comes out in the wash.

  27. It's funny to be reading this, as last week I was trying to think of a "thankful" piece to post on d'Verse "Give Thanks" Never did post, because all I could think of was being "thankful" for the rough spots in my life, and figured people would wonder what I was thinking if I wrote about that, but without them I would have missed out on so many good things along the way. I really enjoyed this, thanks for sharing!

  28. Quite stream of consciousness - the terse, two word lines propelling it on in a rapid pour of thoughts. A story beats there, still, a tale of good memories, as well as bad...well done!

  29. We need bad times so we're thankful for the good. I'm pleased your November hasn't been too cold yet. We are having a very hot spring and summer begins tomorrow. I could go write a hot and sweaty poem right now if I had the energy, lol!

Just a reminder that RomanticFridayWriters kicks off on Friday this week if you can share...

  30. The choice of phrases, the placement of each, and what each reader brings can transform this into completely different poems for each person. I like that flexibility and richness. For me, stormy nights are the best ... and just think, they could be all kinds of storms. Thanks for your visit.

  32. Really enjoyed this. "unfinished us".. great line

  33. Each line a kind of symbol - an idiom response - the whole making up sequences in a life. The journey through light and dark, seasons, and reasons. Enjoyable & creative.

  34. And so it is. Unfinished us!

  35. Some sad moments, true! Unfinished business, true! But it'll always end up in a silver lining!
