Soaring

i pierce

an arrow

sky of red apples

i paint

shades of black

and white

along

tempest rivers,

ice- capped mountains

i admire

hands that hold quill

words more potent than

lover’s kiss

i dream

tap dancing

with lusty full moon

nights velvety smooth

delicate ivory, I soar

until breathless

I fall on

your arms

Author's Note:   Posted for: Poets United - Thursday Think Tank:   You and Yourself.
And Flash Fiction Friday - Post a story in 55 words. For G-Man.

Something new about me is that I have traded my easy-near-at-home work, for a more challenging job in the heart of the city.  I am driving the freeway morning and afternoon, by myself (I used to be a weekend driver), and tackling a totally new job.   I am not young anymore (in terms of years) but the fire is still with me.   The only downside to this development is my time for writing.  I have not been able to write as much as I can, and visit your blog as often as I used to.

Thanks for your visit.  I appreciate all your comments.

Good luck with the new job and drive safe, takes some getting used to the speed on these highways if you're not used to it all.

  6. I loved your poem. Yes, I agree with g-man. Blogging is the fun 'treat' at the end (or in between;) duty, love and life.

Thank-you for visiting my blog and for your kind words.

p.s. Driving alone is always good thinking time...and thinking sometimes leads to inspiration, right?

  16. Love the interesting imagery you used in this one. Sky of red apples, tap dancing in the night with full moon.

Job, writing, life -- a constant struggle, time becomes precious trying to decide how much to give to that which we love and what we need to do. We all do what we can. All the best. :)

    ...

Those words would not have always described me, but they do now. The fire is still with me, too, but I am not testing it in a work challenge the way you are. I have thought, worried actually, that if my husband's job were cut and I had to return to work (if I could find a job!) I would not adjust at all to "normal" hours and a schedule that included my having to do it all.
    I bow to you.
