morning paints your eyes grey
but I smell the wild sea on your hair
the sad wind is blowing away
blue winterdrops on my arms but
i love you
and my happiness craves the
honeycomb in your lips
the rain drenches my skirt
tinged with red plums and berries
your words caress my neck,
i want to sink into your folds
like water on parched paper
the sun nudges my limbs apart,
i want to embrace the scent
of your solitary soul, thrust of passion
in the changing shadow and light
moths and birds flee with our cries,
leaves quiver to the bee stings
but I smell the wild sea on your hair
the sad wind is blowing away
blue winterdrops on my arms but
i love you
and my happiness craves the
honeycomb in your lips
the rain drenches my skirt
tinged with red plums and berries
your words caress my neck,
i want to sink into your folds
like water on parched paper
the sun nudges my limbs apart,
i want to embrace the scent
of your solitary soul, thrust of passion
in the changing shadow and light
moths and birds flee with our cries,
leaves quiver to the bee stings
I want to do with you
what spring does to the cherry tree.*
"My words rained over you, stroking you.
A long time I have loved the sunned mother-of-pearl of your body.
I go so far as to think that you own the universe.
I will bring you happy flowers from the mountains, bluebells,
dark hazels, and rustic baskets of kisses.
I want to do with you what spring does with the cherry trees."

DeleteFeels like spring fever!
ReplyDeletewonderfully evocatively exquisitely sensuous and passionate.just wow!
ReplyDeleteI love that line by Neruda... imagine someone writing that for you!
ReplyDeleteYour poem does justice to both the season and to the yearnings that arise with the sap.
I love the sensuous sensitivity of this poem, and the last line: Wow!
ReplyDeleteBammmmm....holy cow, that was the essence of spring coming, covertly hot enough to put a twist in anyones knickers....I give you an 11 on the melty scale.
ReplyDeleteNeruda is one of my favorites, a wonderful line to draw inspiration from. And the sensuous images just flow one after another in this. This has to be the one that struck me most:
ReplyDeletei want to sink into your folds
like water on parched paper

What a lovely poem!
ReplyDeleteI love this, gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite line is: moths and birds flee with our cries,
ReplyDeleteleaves quiver to the bee stings
The hottest thing I ever said to my husband was: Anyone can do me. I can do myself. The question is, can you undo me.
My goodness, you do capture the passion and sensuality of the Neruda line. You have so many lovely lines that I hate to just quote one. This combination of the universal happiness with the concrete honeycomb is very compelling:
ReplyDeleteand my happiness craves the
honeycomb in your lips
Well, most of what I wanted to say, has already been said by others here. Wonderful. I wish one day I can evoke the same images and emotions with my words :).
ReplyDeletesome incredible imagery here. winterdrops, honeycomb in your lips, tinged with red plums and berries, like water on parched paper- love that line, as you get the additional proximity parched has with parchment- very nice.moths and birds flee with our cries,
ReplyDeleteleaves quiver to the bee stings really great lines from start to end, fun read. I enjoyed the piece a lot Thanks,
i agree ~ spring fever is heating up your poetry, Heaven!
ReplyDelete♥
The lines have such a natural, inevitable flow...sensual and compelling. This poem leaves the reader wanting more of it. Every stanza has an excellent phrase or picture ("I want to sink into your folds like water on parched paper") Very nice work.
ReplyDeleteAh, Heaven, your sensual verse jumpstarts Spring for me. Even in January. :) xo
ReplyDeleteGently erotic with the power to tenderly entrap. Beautiful work!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Pablo Neruda's work inspired me to write poetry. Here's my story: http://bareyournakedtruth.wordpress.com/about-nicole-luongo/
ReplyDeletebeautiful and vivid imagery Heaven. really enjoyed this.
ReplyDeletemy favorite lines--
the sun nudges my limbs apart,
i want to embrace the scent
of your solitary soul, thrust of passion
in the changing shadow and light
easy to identify with these well-penned lines. nicely done. -- C.
i want to sink into your folds
ReplyDeletelike water on parched paper
I'm sure Caddoc could take any amount of that...
How beautifully you expanded that spring/cherry tree relationship. Yum yum all the way down. Thank you for your visit and kind words on my recent post. I'll be back.
ReplyDeletethe second half gushed. here's my favorite nuggets: i want to sink into your folds... the sun nudges my limbs apart... i want to embrace the scent of your solitary soul... moths and birds flee with our cries.
ReplyDeletereading this was like stepping on pretty rocks across a spring river.
Lonely tree
ReplyDeleteYou had me after two lines
ReplyDeletethen you really drew me in in the second verse,
the rest left me dripping in wow,
what I really like is that there's this sense
that *nothing* is happening except in a person's head
as this person looks on at another
dreaming of love;
of course, the images are palpable.
Exceptionally beautiful poetry.
For anyone wanting to feel love and passion, especially in those first knowing moments- this is it. Just beautifully written- so sensual- and I think that the references to nature make it so earthy- so linked to everything that surrounds us. Fantastic
ReplyDeleteSpring brings everything to life, doesn't it? This is my favorite line: "the sun nudges my limbs apart"
ReplyDeleteHeaven -- you gotta put these all in a book, they're SUCH GREAT POEMS!! I really mean it, your stuff should be published in a tome I can sit with in a big cozy chair. Or on a picnic blanket under a cherry blooming wonderment tree!
ReplyDeleteI like the part about the water on paper. I think fine parchment by candle light. And maybe some whiskey beside the water. :)
xo
I love this! I'm trying to figure out how to share this with my wife without blowing my alter ego :-)
ReplyDeleteVery sensual.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and sensual! I truly enjoyed :)
