What I want to do with you

morning paints your eyes grey
but I smell the wild sea on your hair

the sad wind is blowing away
blue winterdrops on my arms but
i love you
and my happiness craves the
honeycomb in your lips

the rain drenches my skirt
tinged with red plums and berries

your words caress my neck,
i want to sink into your folds
like water on parched paper

the sun nudges my limbs apart,
i want to embrace the scent
of your solitary soul, thrust of passion
in the changing shadow and light

moths and birds flee with our cries,
leaves quiver to the bee stings

I want to do with you
what spring does to the cherry tree.*

"My words rained over you, stroking you.
A long time I have loved the sunned mother-of-pearl of your body.
I go so far as to think that you own the universe.
I will bring you happy flowers from the mountains, bluebells,
dark hazels, and rustic baskets of kisses.
I want to do with you what spring does with the cherry trees."

  8. Neruda is one of my favorites, a wonderful line to draw inspiration from. And the sensuous images just flow one after another in this. This has to be the one that struck me most:

i want to sink into your folds
    like water on parched paper

    Amazing job on this!

  28. My favorite line is: moths and birds flee with our cries,
leaves quiver to the bee stings

The hottest thing I ever said to my husband was: Anyone can do me. I can do myself. The question is, can you undo me.

  29. My goodness, you do capture the passion and sensuality of the Neruda line. You have so many lovely lines that I hate to just quote one. This combination of the universal happiness with the concrete honeycomb is very compelling:

    and my happiness craves the
    honeycomb in your lips

  41. You had me after two lines
then you really drew me in in the second verse,
the rest left me dripping in wow,
what I really like is that there's this sense
that *nothing* is happening except in a person's head
as this person looks on at another
    dreaming of love;
of course, the images are palpable.

    Exceptionally beautiful poetry.

  42. For anyone wanting to feel love and passion, especially in those first knowing moments- this is it. Just beautifully written- so sensual- and I think that the references to nature make it so earthy- so linked to everything that surrounds us. Fantastic

  43. Spring brings everything to life, doesn't it? This is my favorite line: "the sun nudges my limbs apart"

  44. Heaven -- you gotta put these all in a book, they're SUCH GREAT POEMS!! I really mean it, your stuff should be published in a tome I can sit with in a big cozy chair. Or on a picnic blanket under a cherry blooming wonderment tree!

I like the part about the water on paper. I think fine parchment by candle light. And maybe some whiskey beside the water. :)
