When spring comes

Unlatched,
spring explodes - this:
 - pouring rain, river spell-
painting a canvas, oiled & dabbed,
breathless-

Unlike
any art frame
-you in me, me in you -
layered in light, grey & darkness,
curled tight-

fisted,
where the flames lick
the sheets, we love harder--
bonding -- and this is where language

fails us -

  7. The language here is enough to set off a chain reaction in my head. Aherm. Enough said...

  8. "where the flames lick the sheets, we love harder' is a REALLY great image. I forget the exact percentages, but isn't interpersonal communication primarily non-verbal. Yet, you captured that non-verbal exchange in words. Touché.

    1. Non-verbal cues are definitely more powerful ~ But this is also about the challenge of writing about intimacy ~

Thank you ~ I like that part too ~

  17. Beautiful, beautiful-- I especially love the tension between the 2nd and 3rd stanzas-- "curled tight--- fisted" -- a superb moment. Truly a great read. ~peace, Jason

    fabulously sensual.

  19. Beautiful cinquains (though I did have to reinterpret the last one, as I read "fisted" in a way I don't think you meant me to!).

  20. Powerfully written. Especially when it is all brought home in the third stanza with the contrasting first word with its inherent violent overtones.. "fisted"

    Made me cry

  25. language: "any system of formalized symbols, signs, sounds, gestures, or the like used or conceived as a means of communicating thought, emotion."

I'd say language didn't fail so much as eclipse the need for words.

    a beautiful piece!

  27. The invigorating effect of spring is apparent. So is the emotional bonding expressing itself in the content of these lovely cinquains. There is depth to this, Grace.

  33. True to your username here, your phrases or poems are always full of lust. Coincidentally, Chinese sometimes describe lovemaking as turning over the clouds and rain.

  34. hmm...I def need some inspiration to draw from to write something close to this..oh well ;) I am thankful for language here, for without your words to describe the feelings or non feelings as you have, we would not be able to relive/savor the moments for reading over again ;) K-

  37. I need to find a new supply of adjectives,, some that have not been used but would say how much I enjoyed this poem. The raw sensuality that lust can bring alive,, and indeed leave lovers speechless with its fruition,,, :-)
