The ripening
You
seeped in my bones & cracks
shades
of color I never knew
burst
violet ash black, magenta fire storm, deep rusted orange
Words
keen & deadly came kneeling
red
appled leaves climaxing before dying
Your
skin darkly yellowed & smoked, a midnight feast
I embraced
subversive dyes, wicked hues, riotous tints
On canvas
they pulse sharp as bleeding rose, thorns
amputated
& thirsty for spring's greening
Kiss
me, restless & unknotted
You

Grace, you did so much with such wonderful color and shades within your imasgery. Truly a good read. >KB
ReplyDeleteGrace, I love this poem. Has me reading it again and again. Reminds me of ee Cummings in a way. Restless and unknotted, really great word play mixed in with the colors.
ReplyDeleteA wide array of colours here. The climaxing of apple leaves, magenta fire storm, bleeding rose- some wonderful images. And that touch of sensuality makes it a lovely piece. :-)
ReplyDelete-HA
Very cool bleeding rose with no thorn and knots gone after the seeping in. How that must feel to a leaf who gets to experience it once! What a way to go! And not alone!
ReplyDeleteWow! Sexy colors - ripe for the taking - very sensuous and sensual - good stuff! I want to eat it up.
ReplyDeleteOh, this is deep, vibrant, and rich. Completely autumnal, until that sneak of spring. So well done.
ReplyDeleteskin darkly yellowed & smoked... that line couldn't be more fitting of what I'm going through with my mom

ReplyDeleteBeautiful and perfect for Fall Heaven, I've noticed so many leaves falling recently, it's speeding up!
ReplyDeleteYou found the passion, romance, & richness within the prompt, and then you wrapped it in a unique form, which made me race through once, and then remount for a second ride. Liked the line /words, keen & deadly came kneeling/ thanks.

"restless and unknotted / you"... i love that. and the fact that we both talked about roses.
ReplyDeleteA scrumptuous read-- and I love how you ended it "You"-- it brings the reader from inside to out, from closed to open. Wonderful imagery ~peace, Jason
