Tanka

read my letter as
you would pare ripe fruit - juiced
liquid clinging thick
words settle on your tongue - soft
as snowflake, tanged with sugar

~0~0~

moon song - velvety
against swaying maple trees
your face is candle
flicking deep night stars  - amber
against slope of my chest - pinked

  1. These are both so very beautiful I love the luscious sensual aspect of the love letter, juiced like pared fruit -- sweetness and tang of lips -- reading delicious.

Your face as candle shifts me from the outdoor scene to the indoor love. Wonderfully and subtlety done.

  2. These are both so lovely and you are writing as Scarlet...which means sensual from you. Both of these are very sensual but subtle as a feather on skin. Lovely!

  3. I can easily see why these are your favorites... somehow your use of fruits and that juice is like Georgia O'Keefe painted her fruits.. luscious..

  9. I think you may have mastered the art of the tanka, Grace. Love the image of reading a letter like juiced fruit...very sensual and suggestive. I like your use of colors in your second tanka...very effective. Both, just perfect!
