Cherry Blossoms by Scarlet Verses
suddenly, the sky is a tumult,
scattering seeds in careless abandon,
tinged of bluest devotion, abounding -
not one blushing petal nor small bud
but a thousand pink-gaping pearls blooming-
i reach to kiss your lips, softer than snow
melting my walls into a cup, opening to receive
your words, sweet & hungry as a bee-
spread my hair among the leaves, steeped
of sun and morning dew drops. drink deeply
of my fragrance, write love letters on my
skin, naked earth-
i want to do with you
what spring does with the cherry trees.*
*Inspiration and line from Pablo Neruda : Everyday You Play
"My words rained over you, stroking you.
A long time I have loved the sunned mother-of-pearl of your body.
I go so far as to think that you own the universe.
I will bring you happy flowers from the mountains, bluebells,
dark hazels, and rustic baskets of kisses.
I want to do with you what spring does with the cherry trees."

I have used this line before, but thought it fitting to post again after seeing the Japanese trees in full blooms over the weekend.

ReplyDeleteI hope spring will come to you very soon ~ Thank you ~

ReplyDeleteWow the things you want to do might get you thrown in jail at your zoo haha and a touch of spring is sure worth a fling
ReplyDeleteah this made me sigh deep...such beauty in spring, in the blossoms, and it surely stirs emotions...love the images and the awake spirit in this grace..
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous. I'd want to kiss it, too.

ReplyDeleteahhh lovely. I feel the fresh sensuality. http://janehewey.wordpress.com/
ReplyDeleteA gorgeous poem, Grace.
ReplyDeleteLovely, lovely--write love letters on my skin--what beautiful imagery!
ReplyDeleteRebirth in more ways than one. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI liked this very much, its passion. I liked your final line even knowing it was Neruda before you said so. My mentor once told me "Good poets borrow, great poets steal." There is another saying,"Nothing is originsl. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination." I would have liked it even if you had not been self-conscious and explaining.>KB
ReplyDeleteHoly Moly...Spring passion perfected! Love it.
ReplyDeleteWow, just wow. The textures, the passion. Oh, and I just love Pablo! wow, I think I need to catch my breath! Is it hot in here?
ReplyDeleteSensuality at its best: "drink deeply
ReplyDeleteof my fragrance, write love letters on my
skin, naked earth-" niiiiice :)
So very lovely - like the cherry blossom which is everywhere at the moment.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful way to take off with the lines of inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI am not a fan of Neruda. Your poem is much better...more elegant and restrained..in fact I think his last line spoils it.
ReplyDeleteJust sayin':)
Lovely lovely poem.
Spring fever talk and action, hmm? What a good match between you and Neruda!
ReplyDeleteI love the way you capture the tone of the of the Neruda poem. I also love the way that nature and your psyche seem to fuse and you become part of its enduring cycle. The poem has such a sweet, lovely, lyrical music.
ReplyDeleteWell this is just delicious. Happy Spring indeed!
ReplyDeleteWow... this paints such a sensuous and beautiful moment. Happy Spring!!
ReplyDeleteThe title got my attention straight away. Very intriging and warm in an enjoyable way. Excellente as always.
ReplyDeleteYour poem is so sensuous. :-)
ReplyDeleteLove those beautiful pink petals and your words are soft and gentle and very sensuous as usual! You set the scene so beautifully here.
ReplyDeleteSuch passion in this. I love your inspiration, your adaptation!
ReplyDeleteGood take on the inspiration ... I loved how you adapted it to fit your style ... beautiful !!!
ReplyDelete"I want to do with you what spring does with cherry trees......." Wonderful line.... Pablo could certainly find them and I love how you seemlessly incrporated that into desire. Though now I want a slice of cherry pie. Or to be young again so I could sit in her branches and just feast on her fruit as I often did as a child.... Nice poem...
ReplyDeleteWonderful! I especially loved "my hair among the leaves, steeped
ReplyDeleteof sun and morning dew drops"
How can you not read a poem with a title like that - and it doesn't disappoint.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteMelting my walls into a cup.... Just lovely.
