Chocolate

You are the chocolate cake
kept hidden in the ice box

Your skin is rain-moist,
petals plump as ripe apple cheeks

My vegan tongue plied me
raw crunchy baby carrots & celery stalks

I nibbled on baked salmon with lemon & dill
But the meat of you

roasted fat,  juicy, pitted with spicy herbs,
wells up from my deepest belly

making my canines
itch

longing for burn
of your kiss

  1. What a wonderful lust for food.. I have a feeling that the celery stalks would feel thin compared to the juicy plump chocolaty kiss...

  3. Ha. I am more a fruit guy than chocolate. But I am a meat eater, so the further along I went the hungrier I got. Food also makes for a nice metaphor for other cravings as well.

  4. Seems quite a tasty banquet here, Grace, but I am wondering about the 'vegan tongue' eating 'baked salmon.' I love things flavored with herbs, would love a taste of that hidden chocolate cake.

  5. Oh, you naughty vegetarian you! All greens and no sinful food makes for a very dull diet... that was a poem to arouse all our gluttinous instincts...

  6. A wonderful love poem, to your taste buds & paramour both; just kept feeling the sensual romantic lusty vibes as I dreamed of French chocolate embraces.

  12. Reading your poem I wondered whether you are vegan or whether you were gently making fun of them. I am not a great meat eater but I love my salmon, especially with lemon and dill. Now I feel hungry! Smiles.

  13. Ah.. decadent dreams of deep dark chocolates do relate..
fantasies.. of delightful melting Easter bunny
    coating nests of bunnies..
    with eggs uphold first
    in chocolate covered
    rivers..do flow
    brown
    oceans of
    sweetest blue..:)

  21. Wonderful food metaphor in this! You make it clear why there is the phrase "sexual appetite"!
