of aquamarine
Though many voices speak
Yours is like amber
Yours is like saffron
yellowing my tongue of spice
Even above glass floor
the wind sweeping the leaves in
tiny islands
Yours is like violin
Yours is like bow
piercing
clouds
streak of fire,
veins careening open
pupils dilating in rushing tide
catching me
in autumn's early shroud
How can I forget your voice?
You ripple all my memories
like whispering birds with nowhere to hide
you
who fly with them
you
who always come back with bluest of plums
Many voices speak.*
Through them all
I hear only yours
falling as a night rain.

I feel as if great god is speaking to us and protecting all the way:) Loved it!!
ReplyDeleteTo hear one person's voice through all, especially a voice which is as musical as a violin, must certainly be a wonderful experience. Happy Sunday, Grace.
ReplyDeleteYou 're bringing the colors, the sense of wind/leaves so close, Grace! 'Yours is like bow
ReplyDeletepiercing
clouds
streak of fire,
veins careening open
pupils dilating in rushing tide' ~ veins careeening open - such revelation for me... xx
One voice always comes to mind, the one you surely want to find
ReplyDeleteThe voice that you want and need to always hear..lovely poem Grace..
ReplyDeleteEven though we may hear many voices, those that speak to our hearts are rare and precious. Great take on Karin Boye's poem.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful and captivating i love the way this flows with desire.
ReplyDeleteI always get lulled into the beautiful poetical images in your poems and then you always shock me with some blood, veins, and such things at the end of the poems :)
ReplyDeleteYou ripple all my memories
ReplyDeletelike whispering birds with nowhere to hide..
This is so melancholy, and beautiful, Grace.
I have to admit you sing with the voice of Karin.. I also read the poem in Swedish, and yours would work perfectly translated I think..
ReplyDeletereally beautiful imagery. I enjoyed the different touches of senses.

Wow! You can always be seen/head! I do not even think a shroud is necessary!
ReplyDeleteBeautifully lyrical, as always Grace
ReplyDeleteThis feels like ribbons of light, color, scent, sound and emotion just swirling around me...such beautiful work, Grace.
ReplyDeleteEven computer chips can recognize a voice. Nicely done, Grace, so much more on a personal level than cold computer stuff. You make me wish I'd have written of the rain.
ReplyDeleteThank you for encouraging words sent our way. To me this is terrible, Mrs. Jim is taking it like a wounded soldier would. The reason I love her is because she is the way she is.
..
Evocative imagery...your use of word choices is just perfect. And, I LOVE the last stanza.
ReplyDeletesounds like a strong voice indeed !
ReplyDeleteYes, your word choice is exquisite. Such lovely sentiments.
ReplyDeleteYou had me with that opening stanza . . . like others have said evocative, exquisite and truly captivating.
ReplyDeleteA certain love and adoration weave through this entire piece.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful imagery of a voice heard amongst thousands...really poignant.
ReplyDeletebeautiful, Grace. good week to you ~
